CHINESE IN AUCKLAND. WORK
OF THE MISSION. PROPOSED PURCHASE OF HALL. The need for a church home and a
centre for Christian work among the Chinese of Auckland has been felt for some
time. There are no fewer than 600 Chinese in and around Auckland, and the
social, moral and spiritual welfare of these has been the subject of serious
consideration by the authorities of the Auckland Chinese Mission. With the Rev.
W. Mawson stationed in Auckland as missioner to the Chinese, an agreement has
been entered into for the purchase of a hall in Cook Street. This will
entail an expenditure of £1600. New Zealand Herald, Volume LXI, Issue 18809, 9 September 1924, Page 10
