WORKLESS CHINESE POSITION IN WELLINGTON.
LESS THAN 200 UNEMPLOYED,

WELLINGTON, Friday.
In reference to the Auckland telegram iii regard to the scheme to provide work for unemployed Chinese and the statement it contains that there are 400 unemployed Chinese in Wellington, Mr. Vuc H. Jackson, Vice-Consul for China, says tiie number is between 150 and 200.
The Chinese community in Wellington, he adds, numbers about 500, including women and children. Practically all those out of work are living with friends or relatives in Shops or laundries, giving their services in return for keep. In summer there is work for them in market gardens.
